Poor Ashlee Simpson. Could anyone possibly imagine having Jessica Simpson as your sister?! OK, let’s put all intelligence aside for a moment and concentrate solely on the superficial. Jessica….blond, buxom, a bombshell. Any guy, girl or whoever’s secret fantasy, right? She might appear in that picture box we stare at to be quite, how should I put this…dumb? But, who has a career in their early 20’s filled with music deals, reality television, beauty product lines and more? A little smarter than we all presume.

But, Jessica, Jessica, Jessica… Ashlee Simpson is sure in need of some attention nowadays. With songs like Undiscovered, Shadow and Just Let Me Cry it couldn’t be more obvious that Ashlee’s desire is to live up to her sister. Who wouldn’t want that or even be a tiny bit jealous when it’s happening almost right under your own roof? But these lyrics, so, so sad.

Oh, Ashlee, that is so sad! But don’t feel too bad for her. She’s not Jessica, but, she’s 19, breaking into the music business, appearances on The Late Show, The Late, Late Show, of course her sister’s show, Newlyweds, and co-stars on WB’s 7th Heaven. This is just a tiny sampling of her accomplishments and stints. She’s also attempting to differentiate and individualize herself. Jessica’s pop, Ashlee is maybe what we could call more punk. Jessica is blond, Ashlee has just recently gone brunette. Maybe her MTV pilot will take off. Isn’t this what we want to see in any reality TV show?—competition, jealousy, emotion, some not so perfect signing and complaining that one sister gets to dress in sexy outfits while the other one looks more boyish. America is beckoning these sisterly duos to sign on for drama, excitement and more for our entertainment.

So, take that different path Ashlee. A reality TV show? Come on, we might want to see it but your sister’s already got that end covered. You’ve got the hair and clothes somewhat down; now try something new and different, at least different from what Jessica is doing.
