Comedian Dave Chappelle will be laughing all the way to the bank...literally. The funnyman just re-upped his contract with Comedy Central. The new deal will give him a big chunk of 'Chappelle's Show' D-V-D profits, adding up to about 50 million dollars.
Sales of the first season dvd totalled an incredible 45 and half million dollars. Chappelle's success caught the attention of rival cable network FX, who unsuccessfully tried to lure the comic from Comedy Central. In response to his lucrative new contract, he joked that although he isn't sure, he believes there is a clause that gives him 'reparations for slavery'.
Chappelle will be a Comedy Central resident for at least two more seasons. He'll earn a 5 million dollar pay check for each season...
Chappelle's Show recently landed three Emmy nominations, and has become the highest-rated cable show for the coveted male 18-34 demographic group. Chappelle Show is Comedy Central's biggest hit since South Park.
