R.E.M. made the announcement today that they will be doing a 30 city tour. The tour is to help promote the Oct. 5 release of the band's 13th album, 'Around the Sun'. The tour launches October 13 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and finishes on November 27 in Denver.

R.E.M. also announced recently that it will take part in the 'Vote for Change' tour, along with Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, James Taylor and The Dixie Chicks.
