Rapper Snoop Dogg and video entrepreneur Joe Francis have reached a settlement with two young women who filed a lawsuit after they appeared in a Girls Gone Wild Video. The out-of-court settlement was reached on July 12th but terms have not been released. Francis, who is the owner of Mantra Films, the maker of the series, recently was ordered to pay $1.1 million to settle an unrelated suit regarding charging consumers for videos they didn’t order.
The two girls in the “Girls Gone Wild Doggy Style” video say that Francis promised their pictures would not be used. The girls, both 17 at the time the video was made were shocked when their pictures appeared on the cover of the video. Francis and Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, claim the pictures were taken with consent and were filmed in a clearly-marked video shooting area. The pictures were shot during a party for Snoop Dogg in New Orleans in 2002. The girls have also claimed that Snoop Dogg enticed them with alcohol and marijuana.
Since the lawsuit, Snoop Dogg has distanced himself from Francis. He complained to the Associated Press that the videos focused only on white women. Francis was also arrested for racketeering after it was found that some of his videos show underage girls engaging in sexual acts with each other.
