MTV has announced the next entry in their series of reality TV shows. With 'The Osbournes' and 'Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica” potentially finishing up their contracts, the search is on for the next big thing. MTV is hoping 'PoweR Girls'(note the spelling, the PR for public relations) starring publicist-to-the-stars Lizzie Grubman will be next spring’s must-see show. The series will follow Grubman and her band of party girls as they live, work and play in Manhattan, Los Angeles, the Hamptons and Miami. Grubman, 32 become nationally known after a 2001 incident in Long Island where she backed over a crowd of people in her SUV. She served 37 days in jail. Since then, she has become a tabloid darling and her client roster, according to her website, features Britney Spears and P. Diddy, among others.
'The world of Lizzie Grubman and her girls is as exciting and dynamic as it is compelling,' said Tony DiSanto, MTV's senior vice president of production. 'The goal of `PoweR Girls' is to pull back the curtain on celebrity and nightlife publicity, while also examining all the real life drama of this amazing group of characters.' Grubman’s girls are a set of fashionistas so look for this series to be similar to “Rich Girls” in tone. Two of the girls also work part-time at The Hudson Hotel so much of the drama will center on the hotel (which is a Grubman client). Grubman says that she looks forward to showing MTV viewers how much work is involved in the world of PR.
