Justin Timberlake's attorney has threatened to take legal action against Britain's News of the World for its claims that that the pop star was unfaithful to girlfriend Cameron Diaz during a recent trip abroad.
The News of the World article claims that Timberlake ,23, engaged in a near-sexual fling with model Lucy Clarkson during two 'sizzling nights' they spent together in London. According to Clarkson, the couple was intimate, stopping just short of sex and with no mention of the singer's girlfriend of nearly a year, who was in Los Angeles.
Actress Diaz, 31, made headlines when she issued words of support for her man. 'I trust Justin,' she said to British tabloids in response to the allegations. 'This woman just wants her moment in the spotlight.'
According to TV's Celebrity Justice, Timberlake's attorney, Martin Singer has demanded money, an apology and a retraction from the News of the World, none of which have been offered from the paper's editor, Col Allan. The story also remains posted on The News of the World's website. Should the paper not respond to Singer's demands, the attorney says he will address the matter with the British courts.
The Timberlake story is the yet another recent incident of
entertainer's exercising their legal rights against the media. Last week, the New York Post published a photo of superstar Britney Spears chugging an unspecified drink from a mini-bottle. Spears claims she was taking the herbal supplement, ginseng, while the paper implied the bottle contained liquor. Spears is also represented by Singer.
