Justin Timberlake has claimed a small victory with a restraining order against a photographer, who he says has been stalking him.
A judge in Santa Monica, Ca. granted the singer’s July 7th request for protection from photographer Artemus Earl Lister yesterday.
Timberlake’s publicist, Ken Sunshine, felt that the order addressed an ever-present problem for celebs:
'It's about time that somebody did something about these stalkerazzis.' The phrase refers to photographers who often follow celebrities by car. 'Unless somebody has the guts to carry this through legally, somebody is going to get killed through these chases,' he said.
Timberlake is also in the beginning stages of a legal dispute with the British tabloid News of the World (see J-Timberlake and DMX Court Battles). The paper reported the singer cheated on his girlfriend, actress Cameron Diaz, with British model Lucy Clarkson (see Timberlake Plans to Sue Tabloid for False Claims of Infidelity) and the singer has filed a libel suit in a London court.
Sunshine predicts 'a lot of money will be won for a wonderful charity' if Timberlake wins the case.
Representatives for the News of the World have told USA Today that they stand by the story.
